Not only the Leaning Tower ! Pisa
Worldwide known for its Leaning Tower, Pisa is without doubts one of the most representative cities of Italy. Due to its special and strategically important position at the junction of both the rivers Arno and Serchio, Pisa used to be a powerful Maritime Republic between the 10th and 12th century. As a matter of fact, due to several victories over different nations, Pisa successfully intended to reflect its power on its monuments, churches and infrastructure. Declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the Piazza dei Miracoli is an amazing example of Romanesque architecture, symbolizing the common life course: birth (Baptistery), life (Cathedral) and death (Cimitery). Nevertheless, Piazza dei Miracoli is not the only cultural highlight of this ancient city, full of several smaller churches, royal palaces and important museums. Pisa is intending to recover and improve its infrastructure, in order to offer better hospitality to the large number of visitors entering the city every year and to attract them to each cultural corner of the city, not only the common known Piazza dei Miracoli. The area of Pisa also offers accommodation to people who want to spend leisure and sunbathing vacations on its 25 km long coastline.
