Florence
Regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Florence is the capital city of region Tuscany, being as well main reference regarding art, history and culture. Of great importance during the Middle Age and Renaissance, Florence is often considered as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance; in fact, it has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages and the Crib of Renaissance (Culla del Rinascimento). Hosting some of the most important buildings and monuments of those periods, the historical centre of Florence was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Wherever the traveller’s eye can reach, the highest expression of architecture will strike him, giving a feeling of staying in an ancient city of the 15th century. Nevertheless, Florence offers also a wide number of cultural activities in historical theatres, much-sought restaurants and cafés, regarded museums as the Uffizi and Palazzo Pitti, as well as a colourful night-life, where the travellers can get in touch with local people and enjoy therefore a special travelling experience in a unique city, as Florence is.
