Catania
At the feet of mount Etna, bordering the Ionian Sea, Catania is the second largest city in Sicily, unique for its different natural scenarios, from the protected area of Etna National Park, to Roman and Greek Amphitheatres in the historical centre of the city and six green parks, all dedicated to famous and architects who constructed most of the important buildings of the city in ancient times. In the late 1980s and during the 1990s Catania had a sparkling and unique popular music scene. Indie pop and indie rock bands, local radio station and dynamic independent music record labels sprung. As a result, in those years the city experienced a vital and effervescent cultural period. Artists like Carmen Consoli and Mario Venuti and international known indie rock bands like Uzeda came out of this cultural milieu.
